Well Hello!

I have a daily (or more often) task: Check LinkedIn for invites, messages, and look over the feed. I will regularly find numerous invites from folks I don’t know or don’t know well. These invites will usually get a reply when they include some custom message and most times I will include a link to my invitation article (Your Invitation on LinkedIn – AskMartin). But may times these invites are actually an attempt to get me to look at a piece of technology or service. IMHO these types of invite messages are exactly what InMail is for.

The InMail function is designed to allow users to message other LinkedIn members they don’t know. If you’re not familiar with that function, you can find the documentation here: InMail Messages – Overview | LinkedIn Help.

So what are your thoughts?

Truth be told: If the “invite” is just a pitch, there is a better than 75% chance I’ll just not reply and ignore the invite. And if your invite has no custom message at all and I don’t know you: [Delete]
